The Truncatus is found in the north-west portion of Columbia in mainly rainforest, however they have been found in dry forest as well.
Behavior:
These frogs can be found in the leaf litter scampering around, but they will also climb up and use high tanks as well.

Temperature & Humidity:
They like temperatures in the low 70’s. The truncatus is a little bit unique in that it has been found in rainforests and in dry forests.
Feeding:
They love insects. In the wild they will eat ants, mites & larvae. In captivity, they are normally fed flightless fruit flies, pinhead crickets, isopods & springtails. In captivity, their diet should be dusted with a vitamin supplement in order to give them the nutrients they need.
Breeding:
This species is difficult to breed in captivity. The typical age of sexual maturity is around 1-1.5 years old, however it could take up to 2 years for successful reproduction.
Threats:
According to the IUCN Red List, the Dendrobates Truncatus is of least concern of threatened species. Their major threats were the pet trade, however it has since been listed by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). There are no major threats to this species at the present time, however it could be threatened by the pet trade again if its CITES status was removed.
